One of the kids told me tonight that dinner tasted like dog food. Charming. It was my second attempt at the slow cooker. Both times my food has turned out bland and lacking depth of flavour. I'm using recipes from scratch (not sachet packets). Failed on the ratatouille. Failed on the beef goulash. I thought slow cookers were easy. Any advice?

  1. LOL!!! Kids are honest, aren'y they???
I love my slow cooker but I know what you mean about the meals tasting a tad bland...

I like to put a tin of tomato soup, 1-2 cups of vegetable stock, salt and pepper and a handfull of raw pasta in my slow cooker along with my meat and fresh veg. I let this cook on med/high all day long (about 8 hours) and it's a hit every time with some freshly baked bread rools..

    I hope this helps...

  2. Slow cookers ARE easy! Just remember to over season your foods; slow cooked foods need the extra seasonings.
